Vernon C. Shelton

Mr. Shelton died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at his home.

He was born and lived in Richmond until 1975, when he moved to Lawrence, Kan., where he lived until 1984. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic and State University.

Mr. Shelton was a World War II Navy veteran and U.S. Army Reserves officer. He was a manager and electrical engineer for F.I. DuPont in Richmond and Topeka, Kan., for 27 years. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and Acacia Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Lawrence.

He married Marjorie Aistrop. She died earlier. He married Joyce Dorsett in 1980. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Diane Fritzel, Lawrence, Debbie Jones, Richmond, and Judy Lakin, Houston; a stepson, Ray Barbee, Lawrence; a sister, Florence Newcomb, Roanoke; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Gary, died earlier.
