Flint Hills sweeps Seahawk boys, girls

? The Seabury Academy boys basketball team couldn’t get it done this time against Flint Hills Christian.

After beating Flint Hills, 27-23, Jan. 31, the Seahawks lost, 42-33, Tuesday. Adam Davis scored 13 points and Kris Finger added 12 for Seabury (6-9), which didn’t play with the fire coach Marcus Heckman is looking for this late in the season.

“From an offensive standpoint, we generated the shots we wanted the entire game,” Heckman said. “Now’s the time we should be playing with the most intensity. If we’d done that tonight, we would have been fine.”

The Seabury girls didn’t fare much better, losing 27-18. Laura Hoffman and Lindsey Ahlen each scored six points for the Seahawks, who scored just four points after halftime — to the chagrin of coach Tracy Kitson.

“We were a little more timid. We weren’t very aggressive and didn’t attack in the second half,” she said. “They did a good job of matching up against us and taking away all our scoring options.”

Both Seabury squads play host Friday to Waverly — the Seahawks’ season finale and senior night. Seabury begins regional play Tuesday.
