Kansas women’s golf leads at Aztec Invite

? Kansas University’s women’s golf team stormed to a first-round lead Monday at the 15-team Aztec Invitational.

KU opened the two-round tournament with a single-round total of 304 on the 5,885 yard, par-72 Lake San Marcos County Club. Host San Diego State is one stroke back at 305. Texas Tech shot 307 to place third.

Jennifer Bawanan, a junior from Modesto, Calif., shot 1-under 71 to take sole possession of first place. Freshman Tiffany Woods shot 76 to tie for seventh. Senior Heather Rose shot 77 to tie for 10th.

“I played pretty solid today. I just felt like I was in the zone,” Bawanan said.

The tournament concludes today.
