Donald L. Burggraf
Services with military honors for Donald L. Burggraf, 84, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Burggraf died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Labette County, the son of Lester M. Burggraf and Bessie L. Cook. He grew up in rural Montana, Kan., and attended Labette County High School. He moved to Lawrence in 1959.
Mr. Burggraf served in the U.S. Army from December 1941 to November 1945. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands with the Anti-aircraft Division from June 1943 to November 1945. He was an electrician for MKT Railroad in Parsons and later worked at DuPont for 25 years until he retired in 1982.
He married Elnora A. Boggess on Nov. 14, 1941, in Columbus, Kan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Lonnie D., John D. and Donald L., all of Lawrence; a daughter, Linda G. Fritz, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the funeral home.
