No. 11 Horns hold on against OSU, 72-70

? With her team struggling in the second half and trailing Oklahoma State by 12, Texas coach Jody Conradt wasn’t sure the Longhorns would be able to come back and win.

She shouldn’t have worried.

Jamie Carey hit two big three-pointers in the late going and the 11th-ranked Longhorns made plays down the stretch to win, 72-70, Wednesday night.

“I have confidence in this team, they have been ready to play every game,” Conradt said. “I don’t know that they were ready today, and they certainly weren’t ready for the intensity that Oklahoma State showed us.

“But I never lost faith that we would start to do some things that would give us a chance to win.”

Stacy Stephens scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half as the Longhorns (16-5 overall, 9-1 Big 12 Conference) rallied to beat Oklahoma State for the seventh straight time.

Carey finished with 16 points. Heather Schreiber, limited to 12 minutes because of foul trouble, scored 15 including two free throws in the final minute.

The Cowboys (5-16, 1-9) lost their seventh straight game.

No. 5 Kansas State 64, Nebraska 47

Manhattan — Kendra Wecker had 16 points and eight rebounds and Nicole Ohlde scored 14 for Kansas State. Megan Mahoney added 13 and Amy Dutmer 12 for the Wildcats (22-2, 9-1), who won their 18th straight at home. Ohlde scored her 1,500th career point in the win. Alexa Johnson led Nebraska (8-13, 1-9) with 21 points.

No. 7 Texas Tech 83, Texas A&M 38

Lubbock, Texas — Cisti Greenwalt had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Texas Tech. It was Tech coach Marsha Sharp’s 499th career win. She will try for No. 500 Saturday night at Baylor. Jametra Clark added 11 points and Jia Perkins contributed 10 for Tech (20-2, 9-1). Toccara Williams and Tamea Scales each had seven points to lead Texas A&M (9-12, 2-8).

Missouri 70, Iowa State 57

Columbia, Mo. — Evan Unrau scored a season-high 26 points and had eight rebounds and five assists for Missouri. Iowa State (9-12, 4-6) outscored the Tigers 12-2 in the middle of the second half and got as close as 50-43 with 7:32 left. Missouri (12-9, 6-4) then hit three-pointers on three straight possessions to retake control. Kerensa Barr scored 12 points and Tracy Lozier added 11 for the Tigers. Lisa Kriener scored 16 points to lead Iowa State, which outrebounded Missouri 28-26. Lindsey Wilson added 13 points for the Cyclones.

Oklahoma 78, Baylor 64

Norman, Okla. — Maria Villarroel scored 22 points, and Chelsi Welch added 18 as Oklahoma beat Baylor. Villarroel grabbed four rebounds for the Sooners (15-8, 6-4). Welch had five rebounds and three assists, while Theresa Schuknect had 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. Dionne Brown paced Baylor (15-7, 4-6) with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ebony Jackson and Melanie Hamerly each added 10 points.
