Henry Odegaard

? Memorial services for Henry Odegaard, 82, Schaumburg, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer United Methodist Church in Schaumburg.

Mr. Odegaard died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003.

He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Oslo, Norway, the son of Oscar and Clara (Gran) Odegaard. He moved with his family to Chicago in 1928, where he graduated from Senn High School.

Mr. Odegaard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in the Ski Patrol and later participated in the third wave of the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to Chicago after the war and was a lithographer with Chicago Graphic Arts Union until he retired in 1982. He was also an artist.

He married Shirley Cummings in 1948. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Richard, Kenosha, Wis.; two daughters, Karen Balogh, Palatine, and Vicki-Lynn Helsel, Lawrence, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Chicago Botanic Gardens, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, IL 60022.
