Blanche Isabelle Curran

Services for Blanche Isabelle “Louise” Curran, 89, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Plymouth Congregational Church.

Mrs. Curran died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Harry C. and Mabel (Forward) Burgess. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing.

Mrs. Curran was a registered nurse at several hospitals in the Kansas City and Leavenworth areas and trained nurses and nurse assistants at Eudora Nursing Center. She retired from nursing in 1978 and moved to Lawrence, where she was a housemother for several sororities and fraternities at Kansas University, including Delta Delta Delta, Delta Chi and Lambda Chi Alpha. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She had lived at Eudora Nursing Center for the past few years.

Survivors include two sons, Peter K. Curran, Lawrence, and Patrick H. Curran, Leavenworth; a daughter, Cynthia K. Lynch, St. Louis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Center or Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
