Niemoeller services
Memorial services for Howard F. Niemoeller, 87, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Private inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Niemoeller died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Wakefield, the son of Roscoe A.S. and Lydia Byrd (Howard) Niemoeller. He graduated from Manhattan High School in 1933. He had lived in Lawrence since 1953.
Mr. Niemoeller served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Command from 1943 to 1945. He was a watchmaker and had a business at Gustafson Jewelry Store from 1950 to 1962. He then worked for Allen Press until he retired in April 1983. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 555 in Topeka, American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14, and past member of B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 595 in Lawrence.
He married Christine Moraisey on Feb. 14, 1943, in Chevy Chase, Md. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Constance Holderman, Easton, Pa., and Patricia Lay, Salida, Colo.; a son, Howard Michael, Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after services Tuesday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Nature Conservancy or the Lawrence Public Library, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
