King eclipses Fizer in Big 12 scoring

? Texas A&M senior guard Bernard King became the Big 12 Conference’s career scoring leader Saturday night.

King hit a free throw with just less than 12 minutes remaining in a 95-87 loss to Texas to surpass Iowa State’s Marcus Fizer (1,830 points, 1997-2000).

The sellout crowd gave King a standing ovation after the first of two free throws gave him 1,831 points. He missed his second free throw.

The greatest offensive honor of his career ironically came on an evening when he struggled to put the ball in the basket. He went 1-of-12 from the field and missed a wide-open dunk.

Entering the game, King was tied for sixth in the league, averaging 17.3 points a game.
