Kansas City, Mo., police investigating Lawrence man’s death as homicide
Kansas City police are searching for clues after the body of a Lawrence man who had been shot was found Tuesday morning on a Kansas City, Mo., street.
Police identified the man as 30-year-old Antwoine Crockett. Detectives with the homicide unit say Crockett had been living in Lawrence, but would not release his address.
Officer Darin Snapp, a public information officer with the Kansas City, Mo., police department, said a man walking near 19th Street and Walrond Avenue saw what looked like a body lying in the middle of the road.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Snapp said the man was dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his mid-section. etectives don’t believe the body had been there overnight.
Police say they have little to go on. The block where the body was discovered has had a number of homes demolished, so according to Snapp, there was not a lot of through traffic in the area.
Police said they have no witnesses and said no one in the vicinity had heard gunshots.
