Stern ready to find buyer for Bucks

Milwaukee — There are local and national investors interested in buying a minority or majority interest in the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA Commissioner David Stern said Monday.

Stern declined to name individuals who might have an interest in buying the team from U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., but said potential investors were people who “would like to see themselves moving to majority status in owning the team.”

A source said the asking price is above $170 million, a figure Stern said was “absolutely without foundation.” However, in its annual valuation of NBA franchises, Forbes magazine recently valued the Bucks at $168 million, the lowest-valued team in the smallest market in the league.
