Elizabeth S. Adams
Emporia ? Services for Elizabeth S. Adams, 82, Emporia, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery southwest of Olpe.
Mrs. Adams died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
She was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Lawrence, the daughter of Elmer Earl and Edna May (Stockwell) Cox. She lived in Texas, Georgia, Washington, D.C.; Colorado and Kansas.
Mrs. Adams was an office worker or clerk in every city in which she lived. In Emporia, she operated Mitway Cafe, Fred’s Derby Restaurant and Trailways Bus Depot, where she was agent for 16 years. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Dorcas Circle, Ushers Assembly and was a former Sunday school and weekday teacher. She was also a member of Gideon Society Auxiliary and a teacher in the Volunteer Reading Program in Emporia.
She married Elbert A. “Ike” Adams on May 28, 1939, in Lawrence. He died June 15, 1996.
Survivors include a son, M.D. Adams, Wichita; a daughter, Carol Sedore, Elmira, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
