Jack Stanley Burn

Memorial services for Jack Stanley Burn, 79, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Funeral Home at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Burn died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at his home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in St. Edwards, Neb.

Mr. Burn served in the Philippines during World War II with the 11th Airborne Division G-511 Parachute Infantry of the U.S Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a mechanical contractor and was employed by Natkin & Co. and the Waldinger Corp., where he established the mechanical contracting department and was a vice president. He served on the board of directors of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Iowa and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He was a former resident of Des Moines, Iowa.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Christiansen, West Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, James, Winter Springs, Fla., and Stanley, Peoria, Ill.; a companion, Mary G. Faubion, of the home; a sister, Ann Scott, Nevada City, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Disabled American Veterans or a memorial of the donor’s choice.
