Alberta Pauline Lyerla

Mrs. Lyerla died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Royal Terrace Nursing Center in Olathe.

She was born July 13, 1917, in Sawyer, the daughter of Samuel and Jessie (Thornton) Cromer. She graduated from Sawyer High School in 1935. She moved to Overland Park in 1950.

Mrs. Lyerla worked for government offices in Topeka and at Sears & Roebuck in Kansas City. She was then a bookkeeper for Dale’s Hardware and Sporting Goods in Overland Park and Olathe and for Overland Park Suburban Decorations, which she and her husband partly owned. She retired in 1972 and lived for a while in Sun City, Ariz.

She married Dale Donley Lyerla on May 12, 1940. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Reginald O. Lyerla, Prairie Village; a daughter, Karen D. Lyerla, Lawrence; a sister, Ella Tregellis, Sawyer; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
