KU’s Smith earns third-team A-A

Kansas University’s Caroline Smith has been named a third-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Smith, KU’s first soccer All-American, set the school single-season record for goals scored last fall with 19. The sophomore from Edina, Minn., is also the Jayhawks’ career goals leader with 31.

Kansas, ranked No. 13 in the NSCAA poll at the end of the season, compiled a record of 18-6-1 and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Charities help Baker pin Lambuth, 66-56

Orlando, Fla. — Baker University nailed 23 of 31 free throws and held off Lambuth, 66-56, at the Disney NAIA Challenge women’s basketball tournament Tuesday morning.

Cory Shoaf led the Wildcats with 16 points. Erin Robinson added 13 points and Gretchen Patty 10. Shoaf was 6-of-6 at the foul line while Robinson and Courtney Lewis each made 7 of 8 charities.

Baker (5-5) will meet North Georgia at 10 a.m. today.
