Walter Seele

Mr. Seele died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at his home.

He was born Sept. 27, 1923, in rural Lawrence, Kan., the son of Henry G. and Hulda (Schwarz) Seele. He moved near Baldwin Junction, Kan., when he was 4 and attended Baldwin schools. He moved to Colorado in 1942 and to Greeley in 1982.

Mr. Seele farmed in the Milliken and Johnstown areas. He was Hi-Ten beet producer from Great Western Sugar Co. and won awards in the 200 Bushel Club for corn production. He was a member of the Weld County Farm Bureau for 48 years, where he served as director for District 2 for many years. He retired in 1993.

He was a member of Milliken Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and elder and was on the building and pastoral-nominating committees. He was a member and past president of Lions Club and also was president of Denver-Boulder Presbyterian Men’s groups, Hillsboro Extension Ditch Co. and Extension Irrigation Co. He sold Pioneer products for 25 years. He was a charter member of the Colorado Corn Growers Assn.

He married Mary Kathryn Stroh on Feb. 25, 1948, in Greeley. She died April 25, 1981. He married Edith M. Kroger on Nov. 27, 1982. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Ronald, Chevy Chase, Md.; four daughters, Linda Daly, Milliken, JoAnn Seele, Grand Junction, Pam Reynolds, Greeley, and Pat Goodrich, Litchfield Park, Ariz.; three brothers, Alvin and Olin, both of Johnstown, and Harold, Baldwin, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel in Greeley.
