Flora Rae King

Services for Flora Rae King, 83, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. King died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Batesville, Ark., the daughter of E.R. and Audie Maude (James) Keesee. She grew up in Batesville, where she graduated from Batesville High School and attended Arkansas College. She moved to Lawrence in 1941.

Mrs. King was a secretary at Kennedy School for 14 years before she retired in 1970. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and several bridge clubs.

She married J. D. King on July 22, 1946, in Batesville. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jama King and Cora Jane Hoyt, both of Lawrence; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the home, 1124 West Hills Parkway.

The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
