FSHS dumps Jays – Free State 59, Junction City 53, OT

? Emilie Humbarger scored seven of her 15 points in overtime, and Free State High’s girls basketball team rallied from a four-point OT deficit to clip previously unbeaten Junction City, 59-53, Friday night.

“It was really a big win for us,” FSHS coach Bryan Duncan said. “I can’t explain how much confidence this puts in us. There was a whole lot of want-to. Going on a two-hour road trip like this and coming away with a win … it’s big.”

Jenny Gwaltney added 14 points for Free State (2-1), and Jamie Stanclift added 12. Banaka Okwuone had seven points and 11 rebounds, and Wallis Romzek had six assists and four steals.

Junction City fell to 2-1.

Free State will play host to Lawrence High Friday night at the FSHS gym.
