Bill would benefit Lawrence Municipal Airport
Washington ? The House approved federal funding Monday for improvements to the Lawrence Transit System and Lawrence Municipal Airport.
The airport will benefit from a $1 million allocation, and the transit system will get $400,000 for a maintenance facility.
The funding was approved in the passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2004, which includes the Transportation-Treasury Appropriations Act for fiscal 2004.
Among Kansas representatives, Democrat Dennis Moore and Republicans Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt voted for the bill; Republican Jim Ryun voted against it. The total vote was 242-176.
The Senate will vote on the bill in January.
