The Knights of Columbus Lawrence Council 1372 announces its Knight and Family of the Month for November.
Charles Steinbacher was named Knight of the Month. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 45 years and runs Bingo for the Knights. He previously was Grand Knight in the fraternal years of 1985-1986 and 1990-1991. Steinbacher received the Martin Henry award in 1999. The award is for individuals who have exemplified unselfish concern for their organization.
The Brian Walter family was named Family of the Month. Brian Walter has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for one year. Brian Walter, his wife, Debbie Walter, and their children, Jakob Walter, 7, and Hannah Walter, 5, have helped with family fun night functions. They entertained children at the Halloween family night party. Brian Walter has helped with many of the building and landscape projects at the hall. He is an Inside Guard for the Knights of Columbus and assistant to the den leader for Cub Scout Pack 3057. Debbie Walter is an early childhood special educator and recently helped with the Lawrence Catholic School Benefit Auction. Their children are involved in Scouting.
Lawrence Duplicate Bridge met Monday for its weekly game. Eight tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the play.
Playing North-South, Patt Radford and Betty Collier finished first in A. Terry Tolar and Harry Shaffer placed second in A. Larry Bodle and Chuck Hedges finished third in A and first in B. Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks took second in B and first in C.
Competing East-West, Curt Soloff and Klee Zaricky took first in A. John Hickey and Jim Kelley finished second in A. Eldon Herd and Jerry Sloan placed third in A. Bob Huffman and Don Bush were first in B and C.
