Gerald Edward Kuebler

Private memorial services for Gerald Edward Kuebler, 82, Lawrence, will be later.

Mr. Kuebler died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was cremated.

He was born June 2, 1921, in Topeka, the son of Edward and Anna (Weininger) Kuebler.

Mr. Kuebler served in the U.S. Army as a private first class and was stationed in Italy during World War II. He was a truck driver for Sunbeam Bread in Topeka and later worked as an insurance adjuster. He also was a body shop foreman for Haddock Ford in Lawrence and retired from Lawrence Ready Mix as a truck driver.

He married Madeline Long in 1938. They divorced in 1957. He married Estelle Maples Hofman in 1959. She died in 2001.

A daughter, Betty Lindquist, also died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Bob, Buhler; a daughter, Julie Ollek, Buhler; a stepson, Ron Hofman, St. Charles, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Dianne VanBuren, Troy, Ill., and Donna Sumner, Baldwin; a brother, Earl, Topeka; a half-brother, Bob Pater, Topeka; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka 66606.
