George Lacy Phenicie

? Services for George Lacy Phenicie, 83, Mission, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Reno Cemetery.

Mr. Phenicie died Friday, Nov. 29, 2003, at his daughter’s home in Stilwell.

He was born March 26, 1910, in Tonganoxie, the son of Lu Ella (Kelsall) and George Lacy Phenicie Sr. He was raised in Reno and attended the Kansas University school of engineering and architecture in 1929.

Mr. Phenicie owned George L. Phenicie Construction of Johnson County; Lacy Construction, Aqua Terra Homes, in the Ozarks; a car- painting service; and Ozarks Fireside and Gift Shoppe with his wife.

He was a member of builders’ associations in Overland Park, Mission, Lake of the Ozarks and Camdenton, Mo.; Carpenters’ Local Union No. 61; United Automobile, Aircraft and Agricultural Implement Workers of America; United Brewery and Soft Drink Workers of America; Fraternal Order of Eagles in Independence, Mo.; Elks Lodge No. 2517 in Osage Beach, Mo.; Kansas City Philharmonic; Bill Chowning’s Entertainment Service; and Countryside Christian Church, where he was a deacon and member of View Point Class.

He married Evelyn E. Savage on Aug. 25, 1934. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jackie M. Fortney and Sharon K. Phenicie; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
