Second Quarter

8:18 -- Jason Wright 18 run. Torri Stuckey intercepted a pass by KU's Bill Whittemore, giving Northwestern possession at its 25. Wright ran 41 yards to the KU 34. The running back had 66 yards rushing on the four-play scoring drive. Slade Larscheid kick. (Northwestern 7, KU 0)

:23 -- Wright 4 run. Northwestern took advantage of another KU interception. Marvin Ward picked off backup Brian Luke at Northwestern's 43 and returned the ball to KU's 37. Wright carried six times for 37 yards, and the Wildcats benefited from a 15-yard, late-hit penalty on KU. Wright gained three yards on fourth-and-goal from the 7 to set up his TD. Larscheid kick. Third Quarter

2:56 -- Mark Simmons 76 pass from Whittemore. On the third play of the drive, Whittemore hit Simmons with a short pass at the KU 35. Simmons broke a few tackles and sprinted for the far sideline, picking up a block from running back Clark Green at the 10. Johnny Beck kick. (Northwestern 14, KU 7).

Fourth Quarter

11:10 -- Wright 1 run. Brett Basanez made two long third-down completions to key a 12-play, 80-yard drive. Larscheid kick. (Northwestern 21, KU 14).

5:10 -- Darren Rus 20 blocked punt return. Ronnie Amadi blocked Brian Huffman's punt, and the TD by Rus put KU in position to tie. But on the extra-point attempt, holder Curtis Ansel bobbled the snap and KU was unable to get a kick off. (Northwestern 21, KU 20.)

1:03 -- Wright 2 run. Wright's fourth TD sealed the victory. Northwestern drove 66 yards in nine plays, taking 4:04 off the clock. The Wildcats faced fourth-and-one at the 5, but an offside penalty on KU gave Northwestern and first-and-goal at the 2. Larscheid kick. (Northwestern 28, KU 20).
