3rd man charged in double slaying

? Jackson County prosecutors charged a third man in connection with a double homicide outside a Kansas City liquor store last month.

Ronald F. White Jr., 21, of Kansas City, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.

White is accused of fatally shooting Gregory L. Thrist, 24, and Chase M. Sanders, 21, on July 26 as the men sat in a sport utility vehicle at a store several miles southeast of downtown.

Prosecutors previously charged Ronnell L. Newman, 18, with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the killings. A 16-year-old boy also was arrested and charged in juvenile court.

Homicide Detective Joe Marinella said police didn’t believe the shooters and victims knew each other.

Police were led to White after his fingerprints were found on the rear window of a car believed to have been used in the crime, according to court records. Police found the car abandoned the day after the killings.

Newman told police he saw White shooting at the victims, according to court records. Newman said White was standing next to the car when he opened fire into the victims’ vehicle.

White declined to answer police questions, according to the court records. Police arrested him Wednesday night.
