Positive tone

To the editor:

I was very pleased with the manner in which the City Commission meeting was conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Both sides of the issue were allowed by the commission members to promote their method for accomplishing a “living wage” for the workers of future abatement companies relocating to Lawrence.

The City Commission members are to be commended for their professionalism in the manner in which the meeting was conducted, considering the emotional and financial issue before them. The methodology in the two differing views may not be identical, but it was evident the City Commission members had been open-minded and had done their homework by meeting with both sides of the issue. It was very evident they want to do what is best for all workers in Lawrence.

Although I may not agree with all of their actions (past and future), if they conduct themselves in the manner shown Tuesday, I and all citizens should be satisfied they are performing to the best of their ability for the City of Lawrence.
