James Wilson McGahey

? Memorial services for James Wilson McGahey, 91, Topeka, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka.

Mr. McGahey died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at his home. He was cremated.

He was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Seymour, Iowa, the son of James and Edith (Wilson) McGahey. He attended the University of Houston, Iowa State University, Washburn University and graduated from Pittsburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Mr. McGahey served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in England during World War II. He was a printing instructor at Haskell Institute, now Haskell Indian Nations University.

Survivors include two stepbrothers, Marvin Merritt, Osage City, Iowa, and Milo Merritt, Arizona; and a half-brother, Robert Merritt, Texas.

The family suggests memorials to the James McGahey Education Scholarship Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 1035 N. Kansas, Topeka 66608.
