Virginia J. Bigger

Mrs. Bigger died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 21, 1923, near Marysville, the daughter of Otto and Netta (Hafner) Schwarz. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1940.

Mrs. Bigger taught rural school before receiving her bachelor of arts degree from Manhattan Bible College. She ministered at North Elm Church in Marshall County while in college, and later traveled with her husband’s ministry throughout Kansas. She returned to Marysville in the late 1960s and stayed for more than 20 years before moving to Lawrence.

She married Maurice Bigger on May 27, 1949, in Manhattan. He died Aug. 14, 1968.

Survivors include a son, Jim Bigger, Lawrence; two daughters, Kathy Mosher, Lawrence, and Denise Stein, Dodge City; and two grandchildren.
