Benefit event to fete Fambrough

Several former Kansas University football coaches and players will join Don Fambrough for a celebration of 50 years of Jayhawk football tradition Sept. 25.

The event, billed as “An Evening with Coach Fam and Friends,” is a benefit for the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center.

The program will include remarks by John Hadl, David Jaynes, David Lawrence, Jack Mitchell and Gale Sayers. John Novotny will be emcee.

KU coach Mark Mangino, athletic director Lew Perkins, former KU coach Pepper Rodgers and broadcaster Max Falkenstien also will speak.

Other guests include KU All-Americans Bobby Douglass, George Mrkonic, Bruce Kallmeyer, Otto Schnellbacher and John Zook.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Marilyn Sell at 830-1795. The $125 ticket price includes a social hour, a tailgate-themed dinner and the program at the Holidome. Proceeds will benefit the Bert Nash Endowment Trust Fund.
