KU third baseman Travis Metcalf will return for his junior season after spurning an offer from the Minnesota Twins. Metcalf, a Wamego native, hit .283 for the Jayhawks last spring and was selected by the Twins in the 38th round of June’s baseball draft.

“I’m absolutely thrilled,” KU coach Ritch Price said. “I’m confident he’ll continue to improve. He could go in the top 10 rounds of next year’s draft.”
