Basehor executive mulls run for state Senate

Jan Justice, a Basehor businesswoman and chief executive of a nonprofit agency that serves the poor, is considering a campaign for the state Senate district that covers Jefferson County and northeast Douglas County.

“The legislator of the future will need a different skill set than in the past,” Justice said. “Collaboration, not division, will be the key.”

Justice is chief executive of New Idea Workplace, a company that provides corporate training. She also is executive director of Community LINC, an agency that helps the homeless and low-income families

She said she will make up her mind by Labor Day about whether to run. The seat is currently held by state Sen. Bob Lyon, R-Winchester.
