Petty Officer Michael Hamm returned June 30 from nearly six months in the Persian Gulf. He served on the USS Kearsarge. Hamm is the son of Bob Hamm, Lawrence, and the late Connie Hamm. Hamm and his wife, Sarah Ward, live in Norfolk, Va. They spent several days in July in Lawrence visiting family and friends. Ward is the daughter of Tizby Hunt-Ward and Thom Ward, both of Lawrence.

  • Air Force Senior Airman Carri N. Cobb has arrived for duty at Incirlik Air Base, Adana, Turkey. Cobb is an intelligence operations journeyman with the 39th Operations Squadron. She has four years of military service. She is the daughter of Stephen and Cynthia Frantz, Lawrence.
  • Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Hagen Miller graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Jennifer Webster, Honolulu, and Paul Miller, Lawrence. He is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School.
  • Marine Corps Pfc. Anthony Pierce completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. The course is designed to challenge new recruits both physically and mentally. Pierce is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is the son of Laura Huggins, Baldwin.
