The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met July 23 for its weekly game. Ten pairs competed in a stratified match that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. Competing North-South, Lynn Hui and Jo Abbott claimed first place in A, B and C. Artie Shaw and Harriet Olson finished second in B. Playing East-West, Betty Spalsbury and Ilse Steinhard finished first in A. Dorothy Arth and Frances Vogel placed second. Emily Foster and Al Ballard took first in B. Jan Darting and Janet Williams placed first in C.

Playing North-South, Yvonne Hedges and Shirley Reese finished first in A and B. Frances Vogel and Erna Holmes took second place. Julia Brooks and Chris Lane placed third. Competing East-West, Amit Chakrabarti and Steve Stewart claimed first place in A and B. Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro placed second. Sally Taylor and Chris Lane took third in A and second in B. Shari Krentzel and Deb Bettinger came in first in C.

Playing North-South, Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough finished first in A. Jerry Sloan and Patt Radford placed second. Carl Mibeck and Jack Mibeck were third in A and first in B. Shirley Vaughn and Sally Taylor placed fourth in A and second in B. Pat Burgstahler and Martie Hartman finished first in C. Sitting East-West, Dave Rhea and Christie Thomas took first place. Bill Schutzel and Terry Tolar came in second. Steve Day and John Hickey placed third. Phyllis Brownlee and Mona Bell placed fourth in A and first in B. Paul Heitzman and Donna Johnson took fifth place. Cathy Blumenfeld and Mike Blumenfeld took second in B and first in C. Don Brennaman and Russell LaForce placed second in C.
