Patriots’ Cloud has calf surgery
Foxboro, Mass. — New England running back Mike Cloud underwent calf surgery that could sideline him for an extended period.
His operation was Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital. Coach Bill Belichick said Cloud could miss “significant” time and did not say which leg was injured.
Last season, Cloud started the final two games for Kansas City as a replacement for injured Priest Holmes. The former Boston College standout had 121 carries for 381 yards in four seasons with the Chiefs.
Eagles agree with top pick McDougle
Philadelphia — First-round pick Jerome McDougle signed a six-year contract Thursday with the Philadelphia Eagles, ending a one-week holdout.
The contract would pay McDougle up to $12.6 million with incentives over the first five years, including a $6.1 million signing bonus. A sixth year is voidable if he attains certain performance incentives. McDougle, a 6-foot-4, 271 pound defensive end from Miami, is expected to replace three-time Pro Bowler Hugh Douglas.
Clark signs with Colts
Terre Haute, Ind. — First-round pick Dallas Clark has agreed to terms with the Indianapolis Colts, and tight end from Iowa was expected to sign a contract in time to practice with the team Friday, agent Neil Cornrich said. Clark, the only tight end selected in the first round of April’s NFL draft, was the Colts’ last remaining holdout.
Saints ink Sullivan
New Orleans — Defensive tackle Johnathan Sullivan, the New Orleans Saints’ first-round draft choice, agreed to a seven-year deal with the team. The contract includes an $11.4 million signing bonus. Sullivan is a 6-3, 313-pound defensive tackle who played at Georgia.
