Legends split again at USSSA tourney
Shawnee ? The Lawrence Legends did the split again.
The 18-and-under softball team went 1-1 for the second straight day at the USSSA World Series at the Johnson County Girls Athletic Complex.
The Legends (26-21) edged the Petosky (Mich.) Predators, 7-6, in their first double-elimination game, getting 62/3 strong innings from pitcher Leigh Anna Thompson and a big save from Felicia Freeman.
Lawrence dropped its second game, though, to the Little Rock (Ark.) Gators, 4-3. The Legends managed just five hits and had three errors in the eight-inning defeat.
They continue tournament play at 9:45 a.m. today.
