Agency: LakeView Manor

Address: 3015 W. 31st St.

Contact Person: Nina Cobb, 842-7282

LakeView Manor is a residential care facility for elderly residents. It is looking for friendly volunteers to visit residents and coordinate activities. Volunteers can choose in what way and when they would like to help. The facility needs volunteers to visit one-on-one with residents and to conduct group activities. Some activities include painting fingernails, reading to residents, playing games, going for walks or conducting group bingo games. Volunteers can decide what they would like to do and coordinate a schedule with LakeView. Volunteers should be at least 16 years old or accompanied by an adult.

Last week’s results

The Visiting Nurses Assn. received several calls from volunteers offering to install CARELINK systems into patients’ homes. The system allows patients to push an emergency button on a pendant they wear to call for help if they cannot reach a phone. The association still needs a few more volunteers to install the systems on a flexible schedule. Call Jan Jenkins at 843-3738 to help.
