Ronald Ray Brown

? Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Ray Brown, 50, of the Lakeside Village community of rural Ozawkie, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa’s Church, Perry. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Perry.

Mr. Brown died Friday, April 25, 2003, at a Topeka health care facility after suffering from diabetes for many years.

He was born Jan. 23, 1953, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Wilbur Ray and Mary Margaret Legleiter Brown. He had lived in the Lakeside Village community since 1980, after moving from Bonner Springs.

Mr. Brown had worked as a toll collector for the Kansas Turnpike Authority for seven years before becoming disabled. He also worked at Sav-On foods in Kansas City, Kan., and most recently worked as a security for the Lakeside Village community.

He was a member of St. Theresa Church in Perry and Knights of Columbus Council No. 11240. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Fairview Township Fire Department for 15 years.

Mr. Brown attended Turner High School in Kansas City, Kan.

He was married to Linda Kay McRae on Aug. 1, 1974. They later divorced.

Survivors include a son, Billy Ray, Ozawkie; his parents, Ozawkie; three brothers, Richard, Ozawkie, Mike, Lawrence, and Mark, Garnett; and two sisters, Leona Alpar, Mesa, Ariz., and Frances Bryant, Kansas City, Kan.

The Knights of Columbus will lead a rosary at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, followed by a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. and visitation from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
