KBA to plant trees at Glen Elder Reservoir

Kansas Bowhunters Association will be having its annual conservation day next Saturday at Glen Elder Reservoir.

Since the floods of 1993, KBA has planted more than 150,000 trees in wildlife areas across the state. It all began at Glen Elder after the 1993 flood wiped out close to 90 percent of all trees in the wildlife area.

For information, call Kent Hensley at (785) 726-4574 or Ralph Renfro at (620) 938-2427.

Free state park days

Kansas state park entry fees will be waived next Saturday and Sunday. On both days, boaters, fishermen and day campers will have free access to Kansas state parks. Overnight camping fees are not included.

Missouri turkey record

Jefferson City, Mo. — Hunters bagged 10,100 turkeys on the opening day of Missouri’s spring turkey season, raising the bar another notch for the rest of the nation. In spite of less than ideal weather, Missouri hunters topped last year’s record opening-day harvest by 596 birds.
