Michael J. Broadfoot

Memorial services for Michael J. Broadfoot, 52, Lawrence, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Mr. Broadfoot died Friday, April 25, 2003, at KU Med, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Lawrence, the son of Kenneth H. and Mary Hart Broadfoot. He had lived in Lawrence since moving back here in 1981.

He grew up in Effingham and graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1968. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Kansas State University in 1978, earning a bachelor of fine arts degree.

Mr. Broadfoot was employed in sales and marketing at Kansas Key Press. He also had worked for Strong’s Office Systems and was a part-time night attendant at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

He was a member of Kansas Citizens for the Arts and Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. He was a Kansas postcard artist and a Bert Nash poster artist.

He was married to Wanda Ward on Aug. 2, 1975, in Manhattan. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Gillian T. Broadfoot, of the home; a son, Kent W., Lawrence; his parents, Holton; a sister, Jane A. Willich, Manhattan; and two brothers, Douglas L., Hesston, and Richard K., Portland, Ore.

The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club or to Friends of the Lawrence Public Library, sent in care of the mortuary.
