Gardner services
Services for Dorothy Mae Gardner, 95, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park City Cemetery, Chanute.
Mrs. Gardner died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Lake View Manor.
She was born May 27, 1907, in Chanute, the daughter of Robert H. and Sarah (Smith) Mullen. She was raised in Chanute. She graduated from high school in 1924 and from Kansas State University with a degree in home economics. She lived in the Shawnee Mission area for 40 years and had lived in Lawrence for 13 years.
Mrs. Gardner attended St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. She was a member of St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, K-State Alumni Assn., and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Conservatory Women’s Group and University Woman’s Club, all of Kansas City, Mo.
She married Thomas Begley Gardner on April 7, 1927, in Manhattan. He died July 18, 1991.
Survivors include a son, David Gardner, Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Sarah Albert, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the church or Southern Care Hospice, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
