L.A. selects Stiles in dispersal draft

? Former Southwest Missouri State standout Jackie Stiles was picked by the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA’s first dispersal draft Thursday.

She had been with the Portland Fire, one of two teams that disbanded after last season. She was the last of 14 players, from Portland and the Miami Sol, that were selected Thursday.

Stiles, from Claflin, Kan., became the all-time scoring leader in NCAA women’s basketball when she played at Southwest Missouri, and she was the WNBA rookie of the year two seasons ago. She’s joining a team that won the WNBA title the last two seasons.
