Vasser to drive second Rahal entry in 500
Indianapolis ? Jimmy Vasser will drive a second Team Rahal entry in the Indianapolis 500, although he will have to miss the first weekend of qualifying because of a race in the rival CART series.
Vasser, a CART regular with Team Johansson, will be in Germany for the German 500 during the first two days of qualifying at Indianapolis May 10-11. His only chance to qualify at Indy will be on bump day, May 18, a week before the race.
“Certainly we will have our work cut out for us with one day in which to qualify the car,” Vasser said Thursday. “Our qualifying chances would be better if we were there for the full duration, but that isn’t possible because of the race in Germany.”
Vasser also drove for Rahal at Indy last year, when he finished 30th.
