Andretti changes mind, won’t race in Indy 500
Indianapolis — A day after a spectacular crash sent his race car somersaulting at more than 200 mph, Mario Andretti decided he would not attempt to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 after all.
The 63-year-old Andretti, who last drove an Indy car in 1994, crashed Wednesday while he was testing a car for injured driver Tony Kanaan. Andretti’s son, Michael, is a co-owner of the new Andretti Green Racing team.

Selig to step down in ’06
New York — Bud Selig does not intend to seek a new term as baseball commissioner after his current deal expires in December 2006.
Selig, 67, became acting commissioner in September 1992 after the forced resignation of Fay Vincent. Despite saying he didn’t intend to take the job permanently, Selig agreed to a five-year term in July 1998.
Owners then gave him a new five-term in November 2001, a contract that expires Dec. 31, 2006.
Asked again if this was his final term, Selig responded; “Oh, there’s no question.”
