The May sweeps period kicks off tonight with two notable stunts featuring Madonna and Michael Jackson. What year is this, 1984? Is it any wonder network TV continues to lose viewers?

• The King of Pop and the ratings prince of February sweeps returns for “Michael Jackson’s Private Home Movies” (7 p.m., Fox). Jackson introduces clips of his family, friends and musical colleagues, and he sits down for an interview. Damage control can be so entertaining.
• Speaking of damage control, here comes Madonna. The last time the Material Girl graced the screen was in hubby Guy Ritchie’s disastrous remake of the 1974 cult film “Swept Away.” The few viewers who showed up were less than blown away, making “Swept” both a critical and commercial catastrophe. Tonight, Madonna guest stars on “Will & Grace” (8 p.m., NBC) as a potential roommate for Karen.

A “Will & Grace” clip show follows (8:30 p.m.), featuring guest stars such as Michael Douglas, Matt Damon, Kevin Bacon, Sandra Bernhard and Lesley Ann Warren.

• Twenty-seven-year-old Melissa Joan Hart has spent all of her 20s playing a teenager. When her series “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” (7 p.m., WB) debuted in September 1996 on ABC, Hart had already entered her third decade. Tonight, Sabrina says goodbye in typical sitcom fashion — with a walk down the aisle. Guest stars include David Leisure, Alley Mills and former cast regular Caroline Rhea.
