Williams named as new principal at Langston Hughes

Lisa Williams, a Kansas City, Kan., public schools administrator, was named today as the next principal at Langston Hughes School in Lawrence.

Williams, 38, spent her entire career in education as a teacher, principal or administrator in the Kansas City, Kan., district.

Williams will replace Myron Melton, who has been chosen to become principal of West Junior High School. Melton will replace Mick Lowe, who is retiring in May.

Williams, who grew up in Great Bend, earned a teaching degree at Kansas State University. She has master’s degrees in education from Webster University in St. Louis and Emporia State University. She’s a doctoral student at Kansas University.
