Clifford J. Saile

? Services for Clifford J. Saile, 79, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka.

Mr. Saile died Friday, April 18, 2003, at a Topeka hospice.

He was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Joseph Henry and Fanny Rachel (Reusch) Saile.

He graduated from Vineland High School and was a mechanic for Martin Tractor Co. for 34 years before retiring in 1985. A Topeka resident since 1942, he restored Model T cars and trucks and antique tractors.

An accomplished guitar player, he was a member of the Old Time Pickers and Fiddlers Assn. He played for several country western bands.

Mr. Saile served in the Army during World War II as a radar operator. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 400.

He married Rowena M. Potter on May 8, 1944, in Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Stacy Jones, Topeka; a son, David J., Topeka; four brothers, Jack F., Baldwin, Darrell, Lawrence, Billy J., Pomona, and Bobby R., Baldwin; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
