Richard Dale Lounsbury

? Services for Richard Dale Lounsbury, 75, Emporia, were Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, with military honors by Ball-McColm Post No. 5 of the American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post 1980 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Lounsbury died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Buffalo, the son of James Scott and Emma Kate (Bell) Lounsbury. He lived in Syracuse as a child and graduated from Admire High School in 1945. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and a master’s degree from Emporia State University.

Mr. Lounsbury served in World War II and the Korean War, in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 and the U.S. Air Force in 1951.

He was an associate professor in the ESU business department until he retired in 1990. He also farmed north of Admire. He was a member of the Sertoma and Kiwanis clubs.

He married Donna Marie Turnbull on Dec. 27, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo. She died July 16, 1976.

Survivors include two sons, Rick and Bruce, both of Eudora; a sister, Phyllis Beck, Wichita; and four grandchildren.

A son, James Scott, died March 8, 1978.
