It was all a lie

To the editor:

I am the one who sat right behind the bench during the Texas game when Williams presumed to scold a fan. You have lied to your players and you have lied to your recruits. You lied to us fans and alumni and, most importantly, you are unimportant when it comes to our tradition.

What you said three years ago was not the truth; your actions are the truth. Enjoy your stay in UNC. You will always wonder what could have been, but you will not be with us — not against us, just not with us. How do you explain this to the recruits coming in? You cannot.

You had us all fooled; I think you even fooled yourself. Well, fool us no more and go back to your Carolina blue. You will find that John Wooden was correct. He did not leave for any other job. By the way, tell Dean Smith he is no better than you; in fact, he is worse. If he believed what he said to you three years ago he would not have approached you for this job. You are a leach and you have disappointed the kids who you pretended to lead and tried to teach. Your legacy will be a paycheck. Enjoy it while you can; it will be fleeting.
