Postoak-Ferguson

Penny Postoak and Dwight Ferguson, both of Kansas City, announce their engagement.

The future bride is the daughter of Wayne Postoak and Virginia Postoak, both of Lawrence. She is a 1986 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration from Kansas University. She is assistant city manager for Overland Park.

The future groom is the son of Marvie Louise Ferguson, Nassau, Bahamas. He is a 1987 Government High School graduate, Nassau, Bahamas. He is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in exercise science at KU. He is a three-time Olympic sprinter, fitness instructor at Kansas City Kansas Community College, and head track coach at Piper High School, Kansas City, Kan.

The couple plan an Aug. 30 wedding at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.

Grant-Symons

Brad and Melessa Demo, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son Jim Todd Symons to Cynthia Ann Grant, both of Denver.

The future bride is the daughter of Loretta and Charles Grant III, Norfolk, Va. She is a 1992 graduate of Norfolk Academy, Norfolk, Va. She received a bachelor of science degree in health sciences and athletic training in 1996 and a master’s degree in kinesiology and exercise sciences in 1999 from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. She is a manager at Colorado Ski & Golf in Littleton, Colo.

The future groom also is the son of Stanley Symons, Wamego. He is a 1994 graduate of Lawrence High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business management in 1999 from Washburn University in Topeka. He is a manager at Colorado Ski & Golf in Aurora, Colo.

The couple plan a Sept. 27 wedding at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Va.

Kerr-Maher

Jacquelyn Desiree Kerr and Sean Edmund Maher, both of Lawrence, announce their engagement.

The future bride is the daughter of Tom and Rhonda Kerr, Louisburg. She is a graduate of Louisburg High School and Kansas University. She is employed by BRR Architects in Merriam.

The prospective groom is the son of Maurie and Barb Maher, Omaha, Neb. He is a graduate of Creighton Prep High School, Omaha, Neb., and Benedictine College, Atchison. He is employed by Anheuser-Busch Inc.

The couple plan a July 12 wedding at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.
