Hurst

Roland and Joanne Hurst, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married March 10, 1953, in Lawrence. Their children were hosts of a reception in their honor April 5 at the Castle Tea Room.

Roland is manager of laboratories for the civil environmental and architectural engineering department at Kansas University. Joanne is state director for AARP in Missouri. Both have been active in the Lawrence community for many years.

Their children are Jay Hurst, Lawrence; Sheila Hurst, Lawrence; Aronda Hurst, Los Angeles; Christian Hurst, Lawrence; and Traci Hurst-Gabbert, Phoenix. They have five grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.

Moore

Dennis and Dorothy Moore, McLouth, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the McLouth School cafeteria. They also will be renewing their vows.

Dennis Moore and Dorothy Chinn were married April 14, 1978, in Topeka.

Dennis works for Comfort Inn in Platte City, Mo. He retired in 1998 from Ashland Chemical. Dorothy is an independent contractor with Home Interiors. She also works part time in McLouth schools.

The couple’s children are Dennis Moore, Doug Moore, Dirk Moore, Shelia Root and Tracy Root, all of Topeka; David Moore, Belton, Texas; Kitty Ray, Sedalia, Mo.; Tim Root, Meriden; and Dustin Moore, Maple Hill. They also have 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Vannicola

Phillip and Gayle Vannicola, Lecompton, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Stull United Methodist Church.

Phillip Vannicola and Gayle Wulfkuhle were married April 16, 1978. They have two sons, Daniel and Bret.
