Private memorial services for Reuben L. Griffith, 89, Lawrence, will be Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Sac City, Iowa.
Mr. Griffith died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.
He was born Oct. 1, 1913, in Sac City, the son of Herman and Grace (Lewis) Griffith. He earned a law degree from the University of Iowa in 1937. He moved to Lawrence in 1994.
Mr. Griffith was a farmer in Sac County, Iowa, for many years. He was a member of Occidental Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club and Kiwanis Club, all of Sac City, and Plymouth Congregational Church, Lawrence.
He married Mildred Nendick on June 18, 1936, in Sac City. She died Nov. 3, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Orchard, Lawrence, and Carole Buckley, Lincoln, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Judy Colbert, died earlier.
The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
